It feels like I never do outfit posts anymore, I have been all over the place this summer though but things are starting to return to normal now and I will be back working at the university when term starts again. I've bought loads of new work wear and this dress is my favourite item I have bought recently. It is also the first size 16 dress I have bought since I was about 15. My size 16 joy only lasted a few minutes when I had to buy a 22 in H&M but its a nice feeling being able to walk in to shops and being able to look in the regular collections. The dress looks very purple in the picture but looks more brown in the flesh and the bottom half is pleated. I wouldn't normally wear leggings with this outfit but I have been out walking the dog and I hate doing it in tights.

I've got a nice weekend planned which includes a David Tennant DVD marathon and a friend cooking for me, lovely! I also have a very exciting announcement to make soon for all of you in Wales and the South West (or those willing to travel) I can't wait to tell you :)
Have you been out getting lots of new A/W wear? I always used early September to get clothes for the new term but I work at the uni instead of studying there now, feel so old!
I've been back at the university working this week even though I have the summer off, only covering a few afternoon shifts but this means I can't lounge around in my pj's with the dog, boohoo! I still only have about ten dresses to chose from because everything is still at my nans while we do work on the house, it's starting to drive me mad! I like to be able to chose from my 2 wardrobes of clothes and endless suitcases under my bed.
I've been trying to wear all of my bigger dresses before they are hanging off me and this is one of my favourites, I'm going to miss when I lose a few more lbs.
I really like the neckline on this dress, very flattering. Not taken my new unicorn necklace off since the Birmingham blogger meet up. Finally, I can never have enough photos of me and Sookie! haha
I'm going to a wedding this weekend at a very posh hotel in Hampshire and all the hens are performing a special surprise dance, I'm so scared. I can't remember the moves and I'm going to fall into someone eeeek! What are your plans for the rest of the week?

I've had a lovely week so far, it's all getting very quiet in work because it's the end of term and I've been having a few shorter days which is great and I've caught up on some sleep. I had a day off this week and I just wore a t shirt and shorts instead if my usual dress and cardi combo and I took Sookie for a walk and took lots of pictures of her. I have a life, honest but I do really love me dog.
I've had a great week of activities in work, we had our library assistants away day where we did lots of team building stuff with staff from other libraries and there were some great presentations. It's been lovely to meet other library assistants who work at Cardiff Uni, we are all split over so many sites. I had a seminar called 'Blog Basics' today which taught me loads of new things. Do you get to do any fun training at work?
I've also been busy trying lots of new recipes and I posted this lovely Pimm's and Strawberry jelly one over on Where Are My Knees?
I just booked my coach tickets and hotel for the Midlands Blogger Meet, is anyone else going?
I've not been to a blogger meet up before I'm really excited!

Hello! This is Dotty P dress number two, don't like this one quite as much as the stripey one but the colour is great. I wore it to work for one day and the pretty detail on the edge has come away from the dress so I need to exchange it which is a shame but I think it's just a fault and I won't have the problem again.
I've tried all different ways of wearing my hair this week because it's been so warm in work and I have discovered that silly buns on the top of my head look stupid, pig tails are not a serious option and I have way too much hair. I don't like pulling my hair away from my face because I've got a widows peak and it looks a little odd.

Thought I would include a little picture of Sookie relaxing in the sun with her Lion King toy. She has been shedding loads of hair recently so I have to carry one of those sticky rollers with me whereever I go to get all the hair off, total nightmare!
Also, how amazing is Nicola Roberts and her debut single? I bloody love this girl! Fab hair, cool clothes and a catchy song, what a woman!
Hope you are all having a fab weekend. Think of me when you are out enjoying the sun and I'm stuck inside with a horrible cold and cough!

This is another dress that has been lurking in my wardrobe and hasn't been worn for years. It was far too small for me but it fits perfectly now. I used to wear it to gigs quite a lot and it reminds me of early 90s grunge hence the post title. I wore it to work yesterday with flats and then popped some heels and red lipstick on to go out in the evening for food with my family so it's quite a versatile dress.

Have you rediscovered anything in your wardrobe recently? It will soon be time to dig out all your summer clothes that have been forgotten, what do you think will be an essential in your summer wardrobe this year?

1. I wore this on Monday to work and then I met up with some friends after work for some shopping. I got the top with my 40% Peacocks discount, I usually go mad when the 40% off offer comes around every few months but I already had all the dresses I liked from there!
2. My ballet outfit, I didn't get too dressed up because it was a modern ballet and I saw it down the Bay in Cardiff so it wasn't very formal. I got the dress from Evans last year, it makes a nice change from florals.
3-6. I saw the ballet in the Millennium centre which is one of the nicest buildings in Cardiff, I'm not usually a fan of modern architecture but I love that the building looks natural and the bands of different colour slate are beautiful. I'm such a Dr Who/Torchwood geek so I had to take a photo of the tower and the little memorial to Ianto and character that died in the last series of Torchwood. There are messages on the wall from New Zealand and America. RIP Ianto!
7. I really enjoyed the Scottish Ballet production of Alice and you can go and see the New Zealand Ballet when it comes to Cardiff for only £10 if you are under 26. It's something that I didn't think I would like but I really enjoyed it, it's good to do things a little different. The story of the ballet was a little tricky to follow because it was a mix of Alice in Wonderland and Through the looking glass. Alice in the ballet was a mix of the fictional Alice and the real life Alice- Alice Liddell. The ballet also drew on Lewis Carroll's interest in photography, Alice falls through a camera lens rather then a rabbit hole. The court executioner was the Jabberwock and stalked the stage with a cube on his head... it was all rather odd but splendid!
8. I bought a pair of denim shorts from New Look, I've never had a pair of shorts before! They aren't too sort which means I can wear them without tights in the summer to the beach or when I'm walking the dog.
Have you had a nice week?
Check out Where Are My Knees? at about 6pm tonight to see our weekly round up and there are also lots of great recipes on there for you to make something lovely to eat this afternoon.

I'm continuing with Britney songs as titles, the album isn't as good as Blackout but I still lover her. This is what I wore to the Islwyn Labour Youth social on Sunday. It's a bit dressed up for the pub but I wore it with a cardi and I want to wear all my nice dresses before they get too big :)
Is it just me or are my eyes a bit wonky here? this was taken post wine consumption though...

I got the shoes on my Saturday after work shopping trip, I only went for a browse and ended up with 5 pairs of shoes, a belt and some Topshop makeup... oops. I'm loving the shoes, they were only £10 and they are very comfy. The belt was bargain for £3 in Peacocks too.
Thanks for all your lovely comments after my moan about having to move in my last post. I went to look at a house today that needs a lot of work but it's next to a very pretty church, I'm feeling a lot more positive about moving from my lovely home now. All good things come to an end etc
I post on Where Are My Knees? earlier today about the importance of eating a good breakfast and posted a recipe and a diet plan comparison last week if you missed it.
Hope you all had a good start to your week

I thought the Frankie and the Heartstrings lyric in the post title sums up my dress lusting at the moment. I don't really need any of these dresses but I do really want them!
The first dress is £45 from Evans or style369 and I think it would be great for work and would be easily adapted for a night out with some heels and a statement necklace. Very practical and very wearable.
The next dress is so beautiful and a bit tacky which is just what I like. It's also a steal at £28 from Tesco and I am in love with the print. I think I would wear it with some black tights and a cropped black cardigan.
The third dress is from River Island and I saw it in black before Christmas. I tried it on and fell in love, it was only a size 14 which is way smaller than my usual size but it looked fab. I left it and tried to find a size 16 or 18 and it had sold out everywhere and I thought I had lost the dress forever but it's back in a brown/mink shade and is £49.99 which is a tad pricey but I'm thinking about getting it for a wedding I have in the summer.
What do you think? Shall I be sensible or splurge?!
What are you lusting after at the moment?

Blogging and taking photos can be very useful, I now know that I won't be wearing this dress again unless I find a better way of styling it. Too booby and the stripes do me no favours around my waist. It is a very pretty dress but it was only £7 in Primark and has an elasticated back, there isn't much structure in the dress so it doesn't fit very well. I tried it on in the fitting room but sometimes you need to take a dress home and try it on with your own things.

The frills and buttons in the bust area are very pretty, I'm going to try and style the dress a little differently and see if it can be more flattering. It would be a shame to wear a dress just once.
I saw these earrings in Dorothy Perkins and thought the letters on them were very cute and oh so apt because of the Pen Pal Exchange I'm co-ordinating, couldn't leave these little beauties there for £2.
I've not had the time to try out any more nail art this week but I bought this Mushroom shade from Barry M and I love it. I think it's quite chic and an appropriate shade to wear to work.
I've spoken about how much I love libraries and how we need to support them in a previous entry which you can find here. I've found a two new books in one of the libraries I work in which I think might inspire you to go and check out your local library. The DIY fashion book is great for a girl on a budget, I especially loved the tea staining tip to crate a vintage look with white fabric and the macarons book was beautiful to just look at but I really want to try and make some myself but I don't have a food processor and there is nowhere in my town where you can get food colouring paste....
Have you baked or attempted any diy fashion recently?

Just a quick post today as I've not been anywhere exciting, just been working a lot this week. I wore this to work yesterday and I look really grumpy and tired because it was about 8am when I took this picture, I am soo not a morning person.

I just booked tickets to see Alice which is a Scottish Ballet production and I can't wait! I've never been to see the ballet before so it will be a new experience for me. The tickets only cost £10 because I'm under 26 which I think is a great incentive to get young people to go to the theatre.

I went to see Allo Darlin' on Monday night at 10 Feet Tall in Cardiff and this is what I wore-
I took some pictures at the gig and by the castle but I look awful so I took this one when I got home.
Dress: h&m
Cardigan: Primark
Bag: Topshop
I got this dress from h&m and I'm very happy with it. I didn't know that they went up to my size in the regular range there so when I found out that they did I ordered lots of things, I was a little skeptical because I always remember h&m clothes being quite small but when the dress arrived it was a perfect fit. It's nice and long so I can wear tights with it instead of leggings and it's very comfortable. The best thing was that it only cost £9.99!
This is a close up of the bag I took to the gig. I don't usually shop in Topshop as I used to work there and had Topshop overkill when I was in uni but I splashed out and bought this bag before Christmas. It was quite expensive and I usually buy vintage bags but I really like it and it's just big enough to fit my camera, phone, purse and powder in, fab for a night out.
Allo Darlin' were fab but I knew that before I went but Sweet Baboo was totally new to me, he had some lovely songs and very fun onstage banter. Sweet Baboo has a few videos on youtube so check him out.

On Sunday I went to the Market and vintage fair but I also popped into Primark and when I got there I went a bit mad and got three bags... oops!
Lots of people have been blogging about this bag and I wanted to see what it looked like in the flesh. It's a really pretty bag and it was a bargain, I think it was about £6. I don't think it's going to last very long though and the clasp is a bit tricky to open but for that price I don't mind too much.
I'm pretty excited about the weekend. On Saturday I'm going for a meal with the girls from school to have a good catch up. I'm going to the Riverside farmers market on Sunday, then to see some new exhibitions at the National Museum and then I'm going to go to the In Aid of Vintage event in the evening to hopefully pick up some bargains and enjoy a glass of wine at the same time.
Getting up to anything exciting this weekend?
xx
Not much to report this week, I've not had any time to shop for exciting things or go snooping around charity shops.
There is going to be a UK and Europe fashion blogger meet, taking place in London on Saturday February 5th! There will b
- Lunch and networking/mingling
- The daytime event will either be shopping or sightseeing
- A cocktail and canape party in the evening.
For more information check out the facebook page.
Evans shoe collection is pretty good at the moment. They’re available in sizes E and EEE and selected styles have extra wide calf widths. I picked up these a few weeks ago and I am in love with them
I think that they have really stepped up their game and this seasons boot selection is really very fashionable. I'm always a bit disappointed when I look at New Looks wide selection but I always find something I like in Evans. An extra incentive to go and have a look is that all shoes and boots are 20% off for a limited time.
I bought a new perfume this week called Naughty Alice by Vivienne Westwood and it comes with a lovely free bracelet. One I bought this I had enough Boots point to get a Chanel powder compact which made me a very happy girl.

I also picked up a purse from Ollie &Nic for just £8!
This is what I am wearing to work today
Not very exciting really. The dress is from Dorothy Perkins, the cardi is from Asda and the bag is a charity shop find. The belt was a bargain, I got it in a set of two from New Look for £3.
