Dot Cotton

By Gem - 20:19:00

It feels like I never do outfit posts anymore, I have been all over the place this summer though but things are starting to return to normal now and I will be back working at the university when term starts again. I've bought loads of new work wear and this dress is my favourite item I have bought recently. It is also the first size 16 dress I have bought since I was about 15. My size 16 joy only lasted a few minutes when I had to buy a 22 in H&M but its a nice feeling being able to walk in to shops and being able to look in the regular collections. The dress looks very purple in the picture but looks more brown in the flesh and the bottom half is pleated. I wouldn't normally wear leggings with this outfit but I have been out walking the dog and I hate doing it in tights.

Dress: New Look
Belt: New Look
Shoes: Peacocks
Ring: Evans
Nails: Shellac polish

I've got a nice weekend planned which includes a David Tennant DVD marathon and a friend cooking for me, lovely! I also have a very exciting announcement to make soon for all of you in Wales and the South West (or those willing to travel) I can't wait to tell you :)
Have you been out getting lots of new A/W wear? I always used early September to get clothes for the new term but I work at the uni instead of studying there now, feel so old!

  1. oh i love it! the belt is so cute too. i completely agree with your comment on my blog ~ ww is really easy to fit into life, and actually is exactly what it should be: helps us to make sensible lifestyle choices rather than a faffy 'diet' which will not really fit into everyday life too well

  3. Really love this dress on you! Is the skirt actually pleated? I always pass New Look by, but must start popping in a bit more as I see some lovely things on bloggers from there.

  5. Oh Gem, you look absolutely gorgeous! Love the dress! You can see just how much weight you've lost. You should be mega proud :D Oooh, is the surprise that thing we discussed whilst slobbing out on the seats in H & M?

  6. Gem you look so lovely! Your weight loss is really beginning to show, I really admire you for loosing weight and I hope you are feeling more confident in yourself. That is the only problem I find with H&M I am always a bigger dress size, and it sure does knock me back (even though I know the sizing is small), but hey the clothes almost make up for that little factor xxx

  9. Gem this looks lovely! And as I said on twitter - I hate shop sizes, always making me kid myself.

And I know what you mean about feeling old, im turning a year older in three weeks and I don't want to, I want to be able to down vodka and stay out till 4 like I used to, not feeling bunged up and sorry for myself at 9 : /

  10. Dress is fab, congrats on the new size and IGNORE H&M. They are ridiculously bad for sizes. My size 8 friend has a pair of size 16 jeans from there. I swear.
It would really turn you off buying there, they are so bad...

  16. Ooh this dress is lovely! Very flattering too! And well done on the size 16 joy!! :D Don't let the size 22 get you down, H&M are evil for sizing.. sometimes I struggle to fit into a so called size 16 in there!! xx

  18. That dress is gorgeous, I love the pleated skirt!
I hate the sizing in H&M, I swear they just pick random numbers/letters instead of actually measuring their sizes. I was in there the other day and could barely squeeze into a size 16 dress, but then tried on a 'Medium' skirt which was way too big. Madness!
I love shopping for new clothes at this time of year, autumn/winter are my favourite seasons.

  21. You're looking fabulous Gem! Yay on number 16, but do you know what? Don't you worry about them tags. I usually just cut them off in case they depress me.. it's just a number and we're so much more than just a number, ain't that right? :)

  24. I hate H&M sizing! I have dresses from them that go from 8-16. They've always been shocking so don't give it a second thought. You've done brilliantly well!

  25. Oh this dress is gorgeous - it really suits you :) I have a passionate hate for H&M sizes esp with their bottoms, I end up going 4 sizes up and still not being able to do up the button = ridiculous!

  27. Look at you! Looking beautiful Gem!
I saw this dress today at Lakeside and was so tempted. Alas the boyfriend talked me out of it, I knew he was bad to go shopping with! I might go on my own and buy it haha!

  32. Any night involving my favourite Dr Who has to be a good one... but these days Matt Smith is ever so slightly beginning to win me over (don't tell our David). Looking lovely petal, is that weird sizing day the one we were talking about on twitter? I NEVER trust H&M! Love the polkadots on you! :) ♥ Claire @ Jazzpad
