Peacocks again...

By Gem - 18:39:00

Hello everyone, it's been a while since my last outfit post, sorry! It's manic at this time of the year in the library with lots of deadlines coming up before Easter and dissertations will be due in soon so I've been working most days from 11 until 9.30.

Anyway... here is an awful moon faced picture of me in a fab dress I got from Peacocks a few weeks ago when I had 40% off. It didn't fit me and I was going to take it back but because of all of the extra shifts I haven't had time. I was going to take it back on Wednesday because I finished work early and tried it on to make sure I was going to take it back but it fits me now!! Proof that a bit of Where Are My Knees? motivation works.
I posted a Moroccan Chickpea Soup recipe over on the Where are my Knees? blog earlier in the week which is worth checking out, tasty, veggie friendly and only 3 pro points a portion!

I wore these accessories with the dress, both of which I picked up in Dorothy Perkins for only £2 each, bargain!

I went to see Frankenstein in the cinema last night, I really wanted to go and see it in the National Theatre but the entire run has sold out, possibly because of obsessive Benedict Cumberbatch fans like me (aka the Cumberbitches) buying up all the tickets. The play is directed by Danny Boyle and Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller are alternating the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature.
I’m afraid to say that despite the rather spectacular staging, the play itself wasn't amazing. Both Miller and Cumberbatch gave a great performance but some of the minor characters were annoying and I found the comedy in the script didn't fit with the horrific ending.  I really enjoyed the examination of the themes of good and evil, nature vs nurture but it could have been so much better!

What have you all been up to recently? have any of you seen Frankenstein or any other theatre productions recently?

  2. I really like that ring - I need to get down to Dorothy Perkins! I haven't been to the theatre recently but I'm extremely excited to see Matthew Bourne's Cinderella at the end of May! I love ballet, usually I prefer the more traditional but Matthew Bourne is an amazing choreographer!

  5. @Jasmin, I loved it but it needed a little something extra in the script. You will be blown away by the lighting and Benedicts lovely face haha xx

  6. Love the dress and the earrings! Peacocks has become a firm fave of mine when browsing the high street, they've done quite well in recent years with their dresses!

I'm also a bit of a Cumberbatch fan!

  7. I properly fancy Benedict Cumberbatch! I thought I was the only one, and therefore weird. How disappointing though that the play wasn't that good...did you watch the frankenstein wedding thing? That was a bit of a let down too. You look lovely by the way, that dress is gorgeous and so good that Where Are My Knees is spurring you on!

  8. Ashame you didn't like the play much. I agree that the script wasn't that great but overall I really like it. When I saw it JLM was playing the creature, what way round di you see it? BC wasn't even there but his understudy was very good. The tights in my giveaway are really stretching and comfortable, not like the ones you get on the high street that dig into you.

  14. cool dress! I saw Frankenstein at the cinema too, and was also a little disappointed. I agree with you that the supporting actors were inconsistent and the humour didn't always seem intentional, so it was jarring. I also found some of the set-pieces (like the train) were pretty pointless and distracting... I'm glad I went as I enjoyed it, though it didn't live up to the hype!

  18. Thanks guys, wamk is really helping! I can't not stick to my goals if people are watching :)

@Emma Jayne- I didn't see that tv show, did it have Stacey from Eastenders in it?

@Miss P- haha I know, we have got problems with shopping!

@Ellio100- I'm glad I went, it was a great play but I got too excited before I went so it was never going to live up to expectations.

@aroselikethis- yeah they are style 369/Evans. I picked them up in the sale for a fiver :) I need some new pumps because those ones need to go in the bin soon.

@Maria- Thanks! I love a bit of Cumberbatch, he will be filming Sherlock in Cardiff when the play ends so I hope I bump into him and by bump into him I mean I will stalk him... haha not really!
