Topshop Make Up

By Gem - 15:01:00

I don't really shop in Topshop, I think I've only been in there twice since I stopped working there. The clothes don't fit me and the prices are crazy, since when was £60 for a dress normal? The staff are on minimum wage and the owner doesn't pay his taxes so the prices seem a little extortionate to me...

I had read good things online about the make up range so I popped in to have a little snoop and I was very suprised by what I found. The Cardiff store has a great selection of make up and I was suprised at the range of products available. I don't trust cheaper make up on my face like foundation and powder because my skin is so bad so I opted for a lipstick, nail polish and blush.

Lipstick: Brighton Rock
Blush: Demure
Nail Polish: Gone Fishing

I loved the bright pigment in the lipstick and it had great staying power. The blush was fab and has a little built in puff applicator just like my YSL one which was 3 times the price so this is a product I would recommend. My favourite product was the polish, it only needed 2 coats to build up a solid colour. Even though the colour is a little odd I got some compliments on it in work. I am going back to buy a few new colours in the week!

This is what the products look like on... (cue awkward face photos)

These are the flowers that my brother bought for my mam last Sunday and they are still going strong, aren't they lovely?!

Hope you are having a lovely sunny Sunday wherever you are
xx

  1. Loving the pinky colours you've picked out! I've looked at the Topshop makeup before but the stands in my local store are usually such a mess with spilled product and make up smears that I never feel like really picking things up and buying them. x

  2. I went in search of some topshop lipsticks yesterday but my local branch doesn't do them, it only had nail varnish and brushes so I wasn't too impressed! You look so fresh faced, Gem! Such pretty colours. And your hair is so lovely and shiny, very envious :) xx

  6. The lipstick and blush are lovely, as is your hair!

P.S. You do need to fill in a form to apply for free glasses, there's more info here: http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/HealthCosts/1128.aspx
The form isn't too bad though!

  8. Love all your colour choices - they all look lovely on you! More to the point, your skin looks great in these photos, so it's obviously nowhere near as bad as you think!

  9. I agree with Charlene - the make up stand at my local store, whenever I've been in, is SO tatty and manky it puts me off. You've chosen great products though and, as a general rule, I have heard good things from other on the Toppers make up. maybe time to brave it?

  11. That's gorgeous!! I especially love the lip colour :o) I agree about the price of topshop.. I haven't tried a dress on at top shop that has made me think that I need to spend 60quid on it! The makeup is nice though, I just wish my local stocked a bigger range... I have the eyeshadow brush though, and it is really nice :o) xxxx

  14. Thanks guys, I was very suprised at the quality!

@Danielle Rose- I might give the matt powder a go, I just bought a Clinique one which I love but I could do with Topshop one just for work.

@little rambling rose- I probably worked there when you were in uni :) I was usually skiving in the fitting rooms listening to Morrissey and Britney on my little cd player.

@Hannah- £60 is madness, you can pick things up in charity shops and in vintage fairs for half that price. Maybe you could order online for a better selection.

@Charlene & Llara is the Little Scribbler - You should order online when they have free delivery, I highly recommend the products. They also have a white polish which would be fab for the nail are that you're so good at.

@Pookie- haha layers and layers of concealer go in to making me look normal. My acne isn't too bad now but it left nasty scars. Rubbish isn't it?! grrr

  19. Cute post! I am a big fan of make-up, since before I realized that I could find nice clothes in my style, and it just took a little elbow grease, I used to rely on my make-up skills to help me express my style. Now I am able to find great clothes, but I still definitely love to use makeup to compliment my look. I am a huge fan of MAC and Sephora, but this stuff looks pretty good! I'll have to see if they ship to Canada!
